As a result of what it claims to be a Ukrainian assault on Crimea that used missiles provided by the United States, Russia is accusing the United States and threatening further retaliation.

According to the authorities in Crimea, which Russia has controlled since 2014, missile parts that landed on a beach near Sevastopol resulted in the deaths of five persons, including three children. According to CNN, Russia's Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Telegram that the strike that took place on Sunday utilized "US-supplied ATACMS operational-tactical missiles equipped with cluster warheads."

According to the ministry, air defenses were successful in shooting down four missiles, but a fifth missile "deviated from its flight trajectory in the final section due to the impact of air defenses, with the warhead exploding in the air over the city."

According to the Associated Press, Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the United States Ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, on Monday to express their disapproval of the assault. Tracy was informed, according to Reuters, that the United States is "waging a hybrid war against Russia and has actually become a party to the conflict." Additionally, the assault would "not go unpunished," according to the story. There will undoubtedly be retaliatory actions later on. According to sources from the BBC, Russia's Ministry of Defense made a claim on Sunday that all of the ATACMS missiles are designed by professionals from the United States and directed by American satellites.

The statement made by Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, on Monday said that the "involvement of the United States, the direct involvement, as a result of which Russian civilians are killed, cannot be without consequences," as reported by the BBC. "Time will tell what these will be," he said to reporters.

Despite the fact that Russia often attacks civilian targets in Ukraine, Peskov referred to the assault on Crimea as "barbaric." A representative for the National Security Council of the White House said that Ukraine is responsible for making its own judgments about targeting and for conducting its own military operations.
